Grand Music of Tang is a suite
of 24 classical guitar pieces, each of
which was inspired by a specific poem from the Tang Dynasty of China
(618-907 AD). This work was commissioned by Japanese classical
guitarist Mr.
Kazuhito Yamashita
in 1999. For No. 5. Docking Overnight by Maple Bridge, the poem
in Chinese and its English translation are shown below.

江楓漁火對愁眠。
姑蘇城外寒山寺，
夜半鐘聲到客船。

Docking Overnight by Maple Bridge

At moonset the crows caw through the frosty sky.
Unable to sleep, I watch maple trees by fishing light.
Outside Gusu, Cold Mountain Temple stands upright.
The sound of bells reaches my boat at midnight.
